The manufacturing and production sector is one of the cornerstones of any city's economy and the community of Brownsville, Texas is no different. With over 120 manufacturing businesses currently making their home within the city and a prediction that this industry will continue to grow over the coming decade, it is easy to see why production is so important to Brownsville. Whether it's a company making round slings for all of the construction being done to enhance the area's tourist attractions or the creation of American made clothing, there are numerous things being made within the city every minute.

With twenty-six businesses currently operating within the city limits, food manufacturing stands as the current production leader in Brownsville in terms of the number of businesses in operation. But, they are nowhere near the top of the list when it comes to the city's top employers, with all twenty-six companies only supplying the city with 639 jobs. This means that while you may be able to put your skills with shrink sleeve for packaging to use with one of the food companies operating locally, there is a better chance of employment within one of the city's other factories.

Fabricated metal products get the second place spot when it comes to the number of businesses within this specialty in town with twenty-one. This gives a bigger picture of the manufacturing job market in Brownsville as this would include Keppel Amfels, a company based in Singapore that does heavy construction for shipbuilding. If you're specialty is working with a metal bender, then you might want to put in your resume here, as they are the second largest employer in the city. International Shipbreaking is also on the list of top twenty employers in town, meaning if you know ships, you have a good chance of finding your place in the business world in Brownsville.

Trico Technologies sits next on the list in terms of top manufacturing employers in the city and makes motor vehicle parts and accessories for air and spacecraft vehicles. They are owned by the US private equity company Kohlberg & Company, an investment firm who definitely knows how to use their Sage Vancouver software, shown by their many successful investments. This company looks as if it will be around for a while yet.

ORC Industries is the fifteenth largest employer in the city and provides clothing and supplies to the United States Armed Forces. Apparel manufacturing, both for civilians and military personnel, is the largest manufacturing sector in the city in terms of employment numbers, totaling more than two thousand jobs within the city. Cutting and sewing positions account for the majority of these and this is one of the jobs available with ORC Industries. So, if you're better with smaller detail than you are at installing a wall mounted boiler as part of a home construction project, working for one of the seven clothing manufacturers located in town may be right for you.

While many people do not dream of working a factory life, there is no one who can say that it is not honest and decent work. If this is the type of job for you than Brownsville might be just the place to get your hands dirty and make a good living.
